Research Interests

Twenty-first century restrictions on reproductive rights, and specifically how these restrictions impact Black women’s maternal and reproductive health. I am interested in how nineteenth-century medical discourse on Black maternal health informs today’s U.S. reproductive healthcare system, and how the afterlife of slavery shapes contemporary abortion restrictions.
