Professor Scot Brown Presents His Paper at the Caribbean Philosophical Association in Martinique
Professor Scot Brown was invited to present a paper at the Caribbean Philosophical Association conference “Shifting the Geography of Reason: Fanon at 100”.
The conference commemorates the 100th anniversary of Frantz Fanon’s birth by celebrating his life and ideas, emphasizing their relevance today amid struggles against regressive and misanthropic tendencies. It aims to foster critical dialogue on expanding the boundaries of reason and envisioning a future rooted in dignity, freedom, and livability, encouraging contributions from scholars, researchers, activists, artists, and practitioners across multiple languages. The event invites participants to explore challenges and concepts inspired by Fanon’s thought in the context of contemporary global issues.
Scholars, researchers, activists, artists, and practitioners presented in Creole, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Prof Brown presented his paper Funk Music and Black Diasporic Exchange and Creative Inspiration at École Manétha Vété-Congolo at Dumaine in Francoise, Martinique, July 2025.
