Robin Kelley wins 2015 Angela Y. Davis Award for Public Scholarship by the American Studies Association
The American Studies Association has just announced that Robin Kelley is the recipient of the 2015 Angela Y. Davis Award for Public Scholarship. The award recognizes scholars who have applied or used their scholarship for the “public good.” This includes work that explicitly aims to educate the lay public, influence policies, or in other ways seeks to address inequalities in imaginative, practical, and applicable forms. In naming Kelley, the prize committee took note of “the spirit, passion, exactitude, fight, and imagination that characterizes Robin’s work and his person,” which “has made him a uniquely powerful resource for scholars, activists, and artists around the world, educating and influencing a broad public about structural inequality and the power of radical collectivity.”
