Gaye Theresa Johnson is jointly appointed in the Departments of Chicana and Chicano Studies and African American Studies.  She writes and teaches on race and racism, cultural politics, and freedom struggles.  She is the author of Spaces of Conflict, Sounds of Solidarity: Music, Race, and Spatial Entitlement in Los Angeles (UC Press, 2013) and Futures of Black Radicalism (Verso, 2017), which is co-edited with Alex Lubin.
