DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging evening as we welcome Dr. Bryce Henson\, author of Emergent Quilombos: Black Life & Hip Hop in Brazil. In this thought-provoking book\, Henson delves into the legacy of quilombos—communities of Afro-Brazilian resistance formed by escaped enslaved people—and examines their ongoing influence on contemporary struggles for social justice in Brazil. Drawing on extensive research\, Henson explores how these historical sites of resistance have inspired modern cultural movements activism against racial\, economic\, and environmental oppression.
