Dr. Odinga is a recent graduate from the PhD/MA Program in Political Science at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). He received the prestigious 2017 APCG-Lynne Rienner Best Dissertation Award in recognition of his outstanding scholarship in African politics. The award was presented to Dr. Odinga during the APSA Conference in San Francisco, California on August 31, 2017. The topic of his dissertation was, "Looking For Leverage: Strategic Resources, Contentious Bargaining, and US-African Security Cooperation" (2016).
